Work at Breathe
We are looking for skilled lime plasterers who think the trade could be run better.
About Us
Health comes first, for the people living in the buildings we work on and for the people doing the work. Lime and clay are lower in VOCs than most modern paints and skims, and proper dust extraction runs on every job rather than being left to whoever remembers to bring it.
When it comes to period builds, we are committed to using materials and processes that are compatible with the existing structure. That approach means avoiding anything that could compromise the natural vapour permeability of the fabric, which is what prevents damp, wood rot, mould and insulation failure.
We run whole-house jobs off a typed wall schedule rather than a verbal plan, and we diagnose damp before we treat it rather than reaching for whatever the last job used. If you think part of how we work could be done better, say so. We have changed how we quote, survey and sequence a job because someone on the team pointed out a better way, and we expect that to keep happening.
Open Positions
Lime Plasterer
We are looking for skilled, experienced lime plasterers: people who already know solid-wall and lath-and-plaster work, and who want the specification taken as seriously as the trowel work.
The work
- Lime and clay plastering on solid-wall and period property, internal and external
- Breathable internal wall insulation in wood fibre and wood wool
- Damp diagnosis and remediation that does not rely on injection or cement
- Lime rendering, repointing and DOFF cleaning on historic masonry
- Limecrete floors, limewash and distemper, cornice repair and woodwork restoration
If the technical side is what interests you, our white paper series is a fair sample of how we think about the work, and our service pages set out how we explain it to clients.
How to Apply
Send photos of your work with brief descriptions, in whatever format suits you best, along with your CV, to chris.julian@breathehomes.co.uk.
We care more about what you have actually finished than about how the application is formatted.
